Understanding: The Hiring Process

Once you submit a full application, propective candidates may be requested for a formal interview to be conducted by one of our hiring managers.

Let’s get to know each other! If we find we are a good fit for each other, we’ll ask you to move forward with a hiring packet.

All candidates must provide proof of TB clearance through a current TB test, or a note of clearance from your doctor.

All new candidates must provide or submit a Livescan background check. If your status as a caregiver is current, you may be able to forgo this step provided if you or your current, or former employer, can provide a copy of this documentation or a current home care aid license.

All candidates must provide proof of five (5) hours of core competency certification as a final step for licensure as an affiliated home care aide. If you don’t have documented proof of certification, access to free core competency certification may be provided.

Understanding: Home Care Aide Licensing

If you are currently working, or have recently worked as a Home Care Aides (HCA’s) or in Assisted Living, you can easily obtain your license and start your home care career.

Step 3 – Once you have completed your registration, please complete the LIC 9163 and submit your fingerprints through a Livescan vendor. For a list of approved Livescan vendors in your area, please visit the California Department of Justice website.

The hiring process for Beacon Home Care can take up to two weeks. Time can vary based on two (2) key factors;

  1. Candidates who already possess a valid home care license can significantly reduce their overall hiring time.
  2. Candidates who respond quickly to necessary hiring documentation throughout the onboarding process.

Yes. This is a non-negotiable requirement.

Form I-9: Employment Eligibility Verification

  • Required for all U.S. employers.

  • All employees must provide:

    • One document from List A (e.g., U.S. Passport or Permanent Resident Card),

    • OR one from List B (e.g., driver’s license) and one from List C (e.g., Social Security card).

An inexperieced applicant is defined as any propective candidate that has not has not provided proof of 5 of hours of core competency certification. Core competency courses may include these topics, or related topics;

  • Understanding client rights and safety
  • How to provide for and respond to a client’s daily living needs.
  • Reporting, preventing, and detecting abuse and neglect.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene and other home care services.
  • Safe transportation of clients, if applicable

Beacon Home Care is committed to sustainability for both our clients and employees. We generally request a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 12 hours for most shifts. We also offer live-in shifts, subject to availability.

All employees are paid weekly via direct deposit, check, or employee pay card.

All employees are paid weekly, every Friday (Thursday’s for holiday’s falling on Friday).

Open shifts are posted to our scheduling app daily. Employees may also work for any Beacon Home Care location. Employees are also encouraged to check-in regularly and update their current availability weekly.

Beacon Home Care offers training and core competency courses for all of its employees. Core competency courses may not be paid as they are voluntary courses necessary to maintain your ability to work for home care agencies, but not your employment status with any given agency.

Paid training does include approved client training, employer specified online training, and special meetings.

There is a range from two (2) hours to twelve (12) hours per shift.
