Personal Care

Home Caregiver with senior man in bathroom

Good hygiene enhances emotional and physical well-being

Good personal hygiene is important to overall well-being and is one of the best ways to keep an older adult healthy and feeling good about themselves. Our caregivers are trained in safe transferring, toileting, bathing, basic grooming, dressing, and incontinence.

From the fear of falling to being naked in front of another person, bathing can sometimes cause embarrassment or anxiety. With respect and preserving the dignity of our Care Clients, a licensed home care aide makes the process as comfortable as possible, and often even relaxing. Protecting privacy and safety, we assist with bathing, including getting in and out of the bath, brushing teeth or cleaning dentures, applying prescribed or preferred lotions, clipping nails if needed, combing hair, and

dressing. Our Personal Hygiene care also includes changing catheters, emptying colostomy bags, managing feeding tubes, changing soiled bedding, and assistance on the toilet.

Preventing accidental falls and watchful for sores and rashes, we explain what we are about to do before, during, and after, to preserve the health of the body, skin, hair, teeth, and nails. Our caregivers are trained to safely lift Care Clients in and out of different sitting or lying positions as well. And, we offer escort and transportation to and from the beauty salon or barber.
