Requirements + Hiring Process

  • You must be a licensed Home Care Aide (HCA) (required).

  • Background clearance via Livescan is part of onboarding.

  • Proof of core competency certification is required; if you don’t have documentation, Beacon can provide access to free core competency certification.

  • Hiring timelines can vary, and may take up to about two weeks depending on licensing status and document responsiveness.

Where You’ll Work (Richmond + Nearby Areas)

You may be matched with clients in Richmond, El Sobrante, Pinole, and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

We are also hiring caregivers from the nearby communities of El Sobrante, Pinole, San Pablo, Alameda, Hercules, El Cerrito, Kensington, and additional surrounding areas.

Your Responsibilities as a Caregiver

Our non-medical home care support services assist clients with everyday life at home. Services commonly include companionship, personal care assistance, meal prep, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation/escort, and live-in support based on client needs.

Work Schedules that Fit Real Life

We offer flexibility in shifts, and many assignments fall within 4–12 hours (with live-in shifts available depending on need). All employees are paid weekly.

What qualifications do I need to become a caregiver in California?

In California, caregivers must be registered with the Home Care Aide Registry through the California Department of Social Services. You’ll also need to pass a background check and complete at least 5 hours of pre-employment training.
