Live-in Home Care

Professional round-the-clock in-home care services for seniors seeking compassionate caregivers

When your loved one needs continuous care and support, live-in home care offers a safe, and comfortable solution allowing seniors to maintain their independence and dignity in familiar surroundings. Live-in home care involves a professional caregiver who resides in your loved one’s home, providing personalized assistance with daily activities, companionship, and safety monitoring.

Beacon Home Care’s non-medical caregivers help with personal care, meals, medication reminders, mobility and transfers, light housekeeping, and friendly companionship. Live-in caregivers also make it possible for seniors with complex needs–advanced dementia, fall risks, post-stroke recovery, or simply the need for constant companionship–to age safely and happily at home.

What Is Live-In Home Care?

Round-the-Clock Support in Your Loved One’s Home

Live-in home care means a professional caregiver lives in your parent’s home, providing assistance, companionship, and supervision 24 hours a day. Unlike hourly care where caregivers come and go on shifts, a live-in caregiver becomes a consistent, trusted presence—someone who knows your parent’s routines, preferences — even quirks, and needs intimately.

What live-in care includes:

  • Personal care assistance throughout the day and night (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
  • Meal planning, preparation, and dining assistance for all meals and snacks
  • Medication reminders at all prescribed times
  • Mobility assistance and fall prevention supervision
  • Companionship and meaningful social engagement
  • Light housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe environment
  • Nighttime assistance for bathroom trips, repositioning, or comfort
  • Safety monitoring to prevent wandering, falls, or other hazards
  • Emergency response if health issues or accidents occur

Deciding the difference between senior placement and home care

Unlike nursing facilities, this option allows seniors to receive individualized attention in their own environment while maintaining family connections and personal routines. This comprehensive care option combines professional assistance with the comfort of remaining at home with consistent coverage for peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ’s for Live-in Care

What makes live-in care different from hourly care?

Instead of multiple caregivers working incremental 8-12 hour shifts (which disrupts routines and confuses seniors with dementia), one dedicated caregiver provides continuity, building deep trust and understanding. You, or your loved one, wakes up to the same friendly face each morning, shares meals with someone who knows their food preferences, and goes to bed each night feeling safe and cared for.

“My mother has been lonely and depressed since my father passed away. She barely leaves the house. Can a caregiver help with companionship and get her more engaged?”

This breaks our hearts, and it’s such a common situation after a spouse passes away. Companionship is actually one of the most important services Beacon Home Care provides. Our caregivers are trained to engage clients in meaningful conversation, encourage activities they used to enjoy, and provide gentle motivation to stay connected with life. We’ve seen clients who were withdrawn and depressed gradually become more social and engaged when they have regular, caring interactions. Many clients tell us they actually look forward to their caregiver’s visits and light up when they see them arrive. It becomes a bright spot in their week!

“What happens if my mom (dad) doesn’t get along with the caregiver you send? We don’t want to be stuck in an uncomfortable situation.”

Great question! Personality fit is so important for a successful care relationship. We do our best to match caregivers with clients based on personalities and preferences. Sometimes the most perfect caregiver may not be a perfect fit for mom or dad. We get it. If it’s not working out, we absolutely will make a change with no questions asked and no penalty to you. We want your parent(s) to be genuinely comfortable with and happy to see their caregiver. Sometimes it takes trying different people to find the right match, and that’s completely normal. We’d rather take the time to find the right fit than have everyone feeling uncomfortable.

“My mother (father) is recovering from a fall and needs temporary help, but I don’t know how long he’ll need care. Do you require long-term commitments?”

Beacon Home Care does not require any long term commitments. We understand that needs change, especially during recovery periods. Many of our clients start with temporary care after a hospital discharge, or injury, and then adjust their care plan as their situation improves or changes. We can provide care for just a few days, weeks, months, or ongoing. We want the best situation that supports your parent’s recovery and your family’s needs. There’s no long-term contract requirement. We’re flexible about increasing or decreasing hours as his condition changes.
